Whenver there is a scenario, from parent case we need to pass some data to child case : we can use data propogation.
Example:
Customer raises a Support Request (SR) with Pega. Support Engineer would gather all the details from Customer and keep it on SR.
If it is tough for Support Engineer, he would a Sustainance Engineering Request (SE), where we need to copy the data from SR to SE, which would help engineering team person to give a fix on the reported problem.
SR is the parent case, SE is the child case in this scenario; where data is propogated form SR to SE using data propogation configuration available on the case designer
